Tweeters?
#1
Not sure if this should be under ICE Section or Technical but here it is!
I am going to have a CD Changer fitted to my MY98 shortly and have read somewhere that there is tweeters fitted inside the door panels next to the door handle. I notice a small grill but have not investigated.
Can anyone throw a light as to whether a tweeter is fitted or to the possibilities of wiring one up?

My car (94 WRX RA)came with some little tweeters attached to the area where the door mirrors are. They face the occupants, and don't look out of place. I'll have a look in the car later today for the make, but I'm sure I've seen a few types in car hi-fi shops.
The tweeters are Kenwood ones, about 35mm diameter

I've just finished last night fitting Kenwood PSR70's to my MY99. Make sure when you buy components that the speakers fit otherwise like me you will spend ages making MDF spacers to fit the speakers in and then trying to cram then into the panel, while making sure you don't hit the windows. The Kenwoods are a "Euro 6.5", so what out with sizes. I'm still wrestling with getting the windows to close properly after putting it in for the same problem last month.
There are no tweeters in the panel. The new tweeters fit next to the door handle neatly. Getting the wires for the mid & tweeter through the door grummets and stopping the rubber pulling through can be a problem.
The CD player fits under the rear pacel shelf. Mine is a 10 disc Sony that fitted next to the boot light easily.
Hope that helps.

cannot believe girlfriend thought box was empty in the bin it went.
they cost £40
the fitting i used is the one where you can move them around (up down).I had to cut the origional tweeter covers on the car .the tweeter then fits in and a big plastic nut keeps it all in place. very neat if done correctly. i spent along time on the job because i could not get the thought of the price of jap bits out of my head .
especially a 4 day old RB5

Had dealer fit tweeters in my RB5 at the 1000 mile service. Cost was £41 plus VAT plus one hour's labour - standard manufacturer tweeter kit.

I have fitted mbquart qm180.03cx component speakers at the front. The tweeters were mounted under the grill via spacers to the internal doors metal bracket. They were aligned very carefully to fit the grills center, they sound just great.

I have fitted Infinity Kappas 6" component, to MY99, the tweeters goe in the door mirror area and can face inward or straight. The sound is amazing, sstereo also upgraded, left the original rears in as they aren't too bad but may upgrade oneday.
