Even if it's a V4, then it can be remapped by Power Engineering, used to be £650 fitted and mapped.
I wish someone would pull their finger out and figure out how to DIY remap the 97/98 ECU![Embarrassment](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/redface.gif)

Hi I'm looking to get my 98 Type R remapped so it will run on Optimax alone. Anyone know of someone decent to take it to in the North East and how much should I be paying.
Cheers

Not quite true as I thought you could get a TEK 2.5 for about £650ish.
But then again it is a your car is a 98 so not sure if its a version 4 or 5. If its a 5 then you can definitely have it done if its a 4 not sure if they have the same jecs ecu or not.
Best bet is to contact someone like Bob at BR Developments as he would have better knowledge.

there are some version 5 Sreg 98 cars. these are a phase 2 car and the ecu can be ecutek'd.
PE had a terrible reputation in the past for their phase 1 conversion which is how they would remap the version 1 to 4 ecu.
I don't think the hardware was at fault, just the mapping at the time was poor.
It may be ok now.
if it is a version 5 car, I would contact pat and have it ecutek'd.
