I know the STi's got an adjustable audible buzzer, but mine's just a humble MY02 bugeye. So what's with the buzzing at just under 6,000 revs in top gear?
It doesn't sound off in any other gear and it's not as if I was anywhere near the 7,000 redline.
The handbook doesn't explain it, so I thought I'd ask the experts..........

something like a heatshield over the turbo / manifolds / exhaust?
you might have found a natural frequency in the system and it's resonating at 6000rpm
check and see if bits are tight and aren't wobbly / flapping about![Wink](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)
an old favourite used to be a crack in a heat shield etc as it altered the natural frequency and started buzzing like a wasp at certain engine speeds![Frown](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/frown.gif)

Thanks for that advice Apple - I'll check things over.![Confused](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/confused.gif)
Another explanation that occurs to me is that it might have been the wail of the Boxster (2.7 presumably) that seemed to struggle to pull alongside when it lost the benefit of my slipstream after I pulled over to let him past (at an indicated 140 mph ish - I didn't really have time to look properly!).
I forgot to mention that the car's a UK spec Belgian import - don't suppose it'll have some kind of buzzer fitted. It'd help if I knew what the STi buzzer sounded like - I feel a test-drive coming on....
