Getting rid of window tints
#1
When I bought my scoob, the previous owner had tinted the rear screen and rear side windows, like the sti coupes.
Now I've never been a fan of window tints, and I've put up with them long enough and I want to get rid of them.
So any ideas of getting them off without damageing the rear screens heated element..? Or am I stuck with them,,, get it stuck with them, oh forget it!!
Any hints, tips gratefully receieved.
Cheers Dave

Kramer.
The tinting films used for windows are supposed to be removable. I would suggest that you see how you get on with the side windows and obviously be very careful with the rear screen.
If you have any trouble, just phone up one of the window tint 'experts' there are loads of them in and around London and ask them what the best method of removal would be.

The glue used on tint is normally water activated so if you spray the window with soapy water the tint should come off.
Be very careful to not damage the heater strips on the back window - any damage & that particular strip won't work.

If you do damage the heating elemant despite all your efforts, you can gat a mettalic repair paint at "all good motor accesory shops" this is gennerally silver so won't look too pretty but is a damn sight cheaper than a new screen
