I was lucky enough to buy a secondhand scooby ECU and fit it to my MY96 UK car some time ago. After 6K fun miles without problems I can say this:-
Anyone with an older car would be CRAZY not to get this good value upgrade ASAP.

So far these are the advantages- feels way faster and pulls much harder in every single gear. Car is far more flexible and seems to come on boost earlier and harder. Benefits above 5K revs in 5th make the car pull far harder at high speeds (on the Autobahn or track of course!). The car was feeling slow and outclassed before I got the ecu upgrade. I was forever changing gear hunting for the power, not any longer.

As well as all this it seems to do the same/slightly better MPG as ever on a run while giving enhanced power. Get one and you will never look back. I was going to get rid of the old dog and get something a bit more modern- I'm not so sure now.

2nd everything you say there fella, I have same MY96 uk and it has transformed my car. Reckon on 280 brake with decat etc. Always thought car was a little slow in a straight line before, not now! My best friends 280bhp 200 sx can't get away from me now, where as before after 80 - 90 he would pull away.

AFAIK

With your car you'll need to have a slot soldered in place to take the chip. Other than that it is just plug and play- the guy who sold me the secondhand chip told me it had been mapped to 15.5psi and was for a UK car. Other than that it seems to just work out of the box- no tweaking required.

Agree with NACRO, no engine tweaking required at all.

But, if you haven't already, invest in a Knocklink and boost gauge just to keep an eye on things. Invaluable pieces of kit.

Best to buy the uprated sensor as well - usually cost around £135 all in.

If you are referring to the Map sensor the scoobyecu doesn't require this as the boost presets are within the standard map sensor range. The Map sensor will only require changing if the scoobyecu is custom mapped beyond approx 16psig.
