Thieving Scum tried to nick my scoob - Well worth a read....
#1
4 weeks ago someone tried to nick my scoob MY00 which was parked outside my house on the drive at 4am on a Saturaday.
Luckly my Dad had just got back from work (He works nights) and was downstairs watching cable!!!
They tried to get inside the house via the UPVC windows at the back (tried to strip out the seals) and when they failed they went to the front door and tried to prise it open.
At this point my dad pulled back the curtains and caught two men dressed all in black wearing balaclavers holding a crowbar, at this point they ran off.
When the police turned up (at 9am!!!) they just said to my dad: who does the Subaru Impreza Turbo belong to. They were after the keys to the car, "without the keys they won't lay a finger on it" said plod.
Alot of people leave their car keys on a table/cabinet/hook downstairs.
So I recommend if you don't already take your keys to the bedroom at night then start doing it + hide your spare keys (under the floor boards if need be).
If they come back I've got my Samurai sword and a crossbow waiting!

True... my mates daughter got her Catalunya nicked the same way... keys were in handbag downstairs.
I'm alright though... it takes ME two hours to find my keys in the morning and I put them there so a car thief's got no chance.

This occurence is happening just too frequently and I think we need to fight fire with fire.
I am devising a means of wiring up a dummy set of keys to the mains electricity.
Just have to remember not to touch them if I get pissed!

I think I'll be leaving my keys downstairs in the most obvious position, don't want the scum to come asking me where they are in the night...
Anyway I've got a ferocious guard cat and if he doesn't get get them through his cunning winding through the legs to trip them up tactic the dog'll have em no worries.
Seriously, is this type of thing of common?
And why didn't the police scream round? Sounds like they were nasty people.
Sorry to hear about your incident, sounds really scary.
Cheers

The truth is if they want it they will take it keys or no keys, the best place for your keys is not in the bedroom as someone I know found out when he got the crap beet out of him for his Scooby keys in the middle of the night. I leave mine down stairs with my 7 stone dog who has a problem with visitors. The other thing they do know as they did with my nates Scooby is park it up for a period of time to see if it is found meaning it has tracker and they either go better prepaired the next time or move on. There are all sorts of horror stories out there about car thefts and I have the scars from a car theft when I caught them taking my Escort Mk 2 RS 2000 and 2 lads were in the bushes over the road with bars and I got one over the head and that was nearly 10 years ago.

Am i the only one who's has to have a Tracker
system fitted to get a half-decent insurance quote? At least then it shouldn't matter if your keys ARE found, though it doesn't guarantee the Scooby won't end up burnt out or at the bottom of a canal....

I advertised a CBR600 a couple of years ago, a nice chap rang me and asked for directions to come and have a look that evening. He didn't turn up until two days later at 4am.
The bike was kept at my uncles and he has a very large, very nasty, very very big Alsation. Not only is it very nasty it is also lazy so it doesn't bother barking until it knows it can get at you!.
Anyway the chap kindly left his tools and torch for the dog to play with.

Aug 1997 2am I had my sleep disturbed by a group of 6 rather large blokes who decided to remove the front door, and its associated glazing, and threaten everyone in the house (rented accomodation) until they got the keys.
The police were fantastic, and found the car undamaged 4 hours later. It had been used as a getaway motor from a robbery. The other vehicles involved were less fortunate.
I've now moved house, and its garaged.
