my modified scoob seems cut out when i boot it, at first i thought i was hitting rev limiter but im not.
the car is fine in 1st and 2nd gear but when i get to approx 5000 rpm in third it cuts out? (the car has been derestricted.)
its really odd as when i go into fourth and fith it seems ok?
the car has been like this since i imported it (a few months back)
the full potential of this car is limited, overtaking is a real pain.
it seems to happen when i put my foot hard down.
any help would be really appreciated.
Thanks,
Nick.

Fuel cut caused by too much boost most likely. What changed recently? Overfilling oil can also contaminate boost solenoid/pipes and cause this.

... or check to see if the previous owner had fitted a manual boost controller. If so, turn it down a bit. Do you have a boost gauge...?

So there's a chance the previous owner had a manual boost controller fitted as well then. Have a look to see if one's there. Click here for a bit more info (if you need it
).

I had the same problem when i changed my standard DV to a blitz one.. the car picked up boost really well but it would cut out at around 4k revs in 2nd or 3rd... it could be the DV... if you can borrow someones and check?
