Strut bars

Wouldnt get lower strut braces as heard that they can cause additional damage in the event of an accident. I cant see how fitting upper ones has any detrimental affect - can only see that stiffening the chassis is a good thing??!

Unless you are seriously considering it for "track use", why bother?
The chassis is not going to flex that noticable for the average driver to even notice. have you actually seen any visible cracks in the chassis welds or chassis rails on your own car?
Not trying be be harsh or anything, but why spend on such a non performance item which simply adds weight.

Have to Agree with JGM, As i have posted before... My car's steering felt vague after an engine rebuild on the test drive. I racked my brains to think what was different and was stuck until i noticed that my Strut brace was sitting at the back of my garage![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Reffited the Top Brace and my Handling was restored.

![Question](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/icons/icon5.gif)
Scooby96, what's a lower strut brace?? ![Confused](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/confused.gif)
Wagon owners get the most benefit from strut braces, especially the rear one, as they have no rear seat for rigidity of course. Fitting a rear strut brace transformed my wagon also.
The front one is less noticeable unless you're really going for it, but still worth doing.
In my opinion, changing the anti-roll bar drop links and mountings was at least a good as, if not better, modification than the strut braces.

intresting tale, my mate recently removed his front upper brace as he was selling it to replace it with a cusco model
he flew round a corner thats hes used to driving around, forgot about not haveing a upper front brace, and it understeerd all over the shop
maybe there was diesel on the road or sumthing?
when i fitted my braces (cusco upper front and upper and lower rear) i had a bit of a dilema with regards "did it actualy make the car handle better"
this was becuase the day before i had upgraded from 16" to 17" wheels and was in the "just splashed out on 4 new tyres and i dont want to scuff them" phase
(you all know what im talking about lol)
now after further testing and such ive decieded that they are a good performance increasing modifaction and i would like to fit the cusco lower front to finnsih the set off, saying that the lower front brace, can cause extra damage in a accident can be likend to fitting say 19" wheels and hitting a kerb, bigger wheels, more leaverage, more damage etc etc
