Squeeking noise!!!!

I seem to have a squeeking noise coming from the rear of the car. I thought that it may have been caused by warn rear pads, but they have been been replaced along with the disks.
I am assuming this is still a rear brake problem because when slowing down, if I lightly pull the handbrake the noise stops for about a mile or so. Could this be down to the handbrake shoes?????
Any help is much appriciated.

p.s Car is MY98 UK spec Turbo.

Can be from the rear handbrake shoes if "over adjusted" as they drag on the inner drum ,may find if the trailing edge is "shaved" off at an angle may cure it [on the shoe lining that is !]

Hi
my 98 Turbo does exactly the same, it seems to be a very intermittant problem and only if iam rolling forward slowly (ie stuck in traffic etc)
I had all of the pads etc checked and nothing seemed to be out of place...it has not done it for about 2 weeks so iam keeping my eye / ear on it....bizzare!

Yes, its the handbrake shoes...there is a thread somewhere where I answered this, saying how to fix it etc..
In short....
remove caliper, then disc (may need to slacken handbrake adjuster). Spray handbrake assembly thouroughly with brake cleaner, allow to dry, and put back together. Re-adjust handbrake.
also, scrape off any heavy rust build up on the edges of the discs.

I had the same problem which was solved after much trial and error by grinding a small piece from the edge of the rear pads. Basically the pads for some strange reason were catching in the caliper and staying in contact with the disc. I noticed on 1 occasion after a rather spirited drive that the wheel was so hot I couldnt touch it, luckily the tyre didnt blow out!! I thought for ages it was coming from my front discs and pads which had been upgraded to Mintex. I finally realised it was the rears by pulling the handbrake which stopped the squeal. It only made noise when travelling below 40 and this could be heard above a full BPM Decat.
I lived with the squeal for 6 months until it became so bad it had to be solved.

Mine doesnt squeal it squeaks.
It's more squeak squeak really as the wheel rotates.
Anymore squeaks and I can see this heading for the Muppets![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

had this on mine & it was a nakard inner oil seal for the wheel bearing.
about a 15 minute job to change if you can susspend the wheel & get the pivot bolt undone. undo the driveshaft & push it out. replace seal, re-fit the rest.
