Thumbs down

I still have the strange noise in and around my car that nobody has been able to help me with.

It's not there in 1st, only 2nd, 3rd and 4th, maybe 5th. I can't hear it when I am accelerating very hard either, only moderate acceleration through 3000-45000 rpm.

The sound is like a semi hipitched drone almost like a resonance of some kind and cannot be felt only heard. It varies in volume from from time to time too.

I cannot make out where it is coming from only that it seems to be underneath the car sometimes, then at front in and around engine bay.

I need to sort this problem out but nobody seems to be able to help.

The car is an MY00 from Holland and has a SS backbox only. A new turbo was fitted by pulleyn's after 1000miles as it was VERY noisey. No mods were made at all around the time this noise started. If I take it to a main dealer they will charge me £45 an hour to look at it and probably tell me that there is nothing wrong with it. I have little faith in them anyway as they put my dipstick in the wrong way round on service last week (Not pulleyn's but other dealer).

Scotty in need of some help

Maybe I should buy a better built car next time

PS: I have another post regarding my heat shield from the clutch reservoir. Connected?!?

I meant to put 4500 rpm

Scotty,
Blimey, Your engine can half rev mate.

Anyway this noise sounds similar to a problem i had a year ago.

Basically the diaphram with the blow off valve (dump valve) had split causing this
noise.

Cost £60 for a new one.

Hope im right!

Hi,

Sounds like a similar problem I had after I had much clutch replaced. Garage had not replaced on of the heat shields correctly and it was this which was vibrating/resonating. Most annoying. Best thing you could do is get your car over a pit, or on a ramp whilst someones in the car with the engine running... then you'll be able to do a better diagnosis.

Cheers,

Karlos

Scotty, Had similar on my Belgian MY00. Turned out to be the fire extinguisher resonating in it's cradle under the passenger seat(these come as standard on Euro imports)could be that simple!

Thanks guys I'll check these out and let you know.

Joni,

My MY00 from Holland did not come with fire extinguisher for some reason. My head hurts thinking about the car as it is

Thanks again,

Scotty.
