![Question](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/icons/icon5.gif)
I have a WRX STI version 1 - 250bhp model (imported off course) and would like to fit a later STI version 3 model 280bhp engine.
What difference are there to this upgrade?
I know of coil packs and ECU. Any others?

the turbo is different...not a td04 like your sti v1 it has a vf23?? i think and it has a different intercooler also. Also get a red top engine as well ![Wink](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)

Marky,
It`s not straight 4ward but reasonably easy if u r a bit handy with a set of spanners, a meter and can do a bit of wiring.
I know, I shoehorned an STi 4 into my WRX![Wink](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)
Don`t bother with the ignition, the coild are a better setup than the igniter pack. I still use coilpacks
The ECU is a bit of a stumbling block, as the harness is slightly different in the way of connectors. Other than fart around I`d suggest you get yourself a mappable ECU which will marry to existing harness. This will allow you to use original coil packs and minimise the amount of rewiring. With your mota being an STi in the first place you may even be able to run using the original ecu (as the timing etc will be set for the STi heads) This being the case the only prob you would have is the wiring of the TPS
as your original has 4 wires where as the newer one has 3. As for the intercooler from memory
the 3 has the straight TMIC where as u r original has a slanted one. Shouldn`t cause a problem though other than the vent may need adapted. I didn`t have this problem as i run an FMIC![Wink](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)
If u need more gen gimme a shout an If i can helpout I will.

Fitted a STi 3 sedan engine & 'box into my '93 RA. All as per Pete's comments. Brilliant mod ! Just upgraded to a STi 6 coupe diff & sub-frame to get the mechanical LSD and brake upgrade.
