Golf VR6 Beaten...
#1
If anyone is in any way worried that a VR6 might keep up, I wouldnt bother. I had a "lights" incident with one on a dual carriage way last night. Quite a nice boke actually, gave me a respectful nod before I punished him. Oh, and it looked tuned as wel, DTM, lowered, max power etc..!

Mmmm flames... must get flames...
What worries me is that they keep trying it on even after you punish them. Fools. I've had all sorts try and race me, Micra's and obviously the Nova toss. Dont bother.

I was tempted by a VR6 before I bought the scooby (insurance 22 yr old a bit daunting)but heard they were quite poor. I always think it was a bit of a waste to have a near 3 litre, V6 with that performance and look the same as an SE! Im glad I saw the light anyway.

I had a couple of VR6's before I got my scoob. The bottom line is they ain't in the same league. They are too heavy, and not really tuned for acceleration/handling. If you want a small family car to bomb along the autobahn in for long distances, then they are fine (you can also park them in inner city areas and the theiving scum often walk past them without realising). Standing starts and twisty roads a scoob will beat them hands down.

yeah i know a guy who drove one and said nicely built but get to a twisty road and no chance.
still the other ½'s bother and mother have just both got brand new v4 motion's so i am waiting to try one and see for myself how they compare. (not exaclty sure how they these compare to a vr6 ?)
dont expect they will but i'll give it a try !
are they much better on insurance then ?

A work colleague has a VR6 4 motion. Its a very well built car, leagues ahead of the scoob, especially the interior and it does have a V6! But its too heavy and does not handle as well as an impreza. I'd take the scoob anyday, I just wish you could get a scoob with a V6 turbo

I had a tuned Astra GSI which had been tuned by Courtney Turbo's. (I had everything except the Turbo. Didn't like the idea of all that power going via just 2 front wheels. Thats why I love scoobys).
I could see off VR6's quite easliy with that. In fact the only thing that seemed to do me was scoobies, cossies & 300 zx's.

Beware the Corrado vr6 - much much quicker in
real terms than a golf my old chap has one (a '96n reg his third) and from 60mph it matches my my00!! only when 4th gear comes into it's own (100mph!) does the scoob show it's way. Also unlike the Mk3 golf(I had
two from new) they handle. Also he gets 10 more mpg!!!

I had a battle with a mate from work in his G60, we both took off from about 50 and although I was pinned to his bumper, I think I would have struggled to take him. I did accelarate from 4th though! I find off the lights nothing can touch a scoob but after that it runs out of steam. Must buy a chip, must buy a chip....
