Ive got bad wind (no jokes please) noise comming from drivers door on my my99uk Scooby at 90mph plus . Ive had it adjusted twice and a new seal and adjusted again, noise now at 70 mph whats the problem peeps?
Is it just C**p setting up or are they just a B*****d to set up?
will there be light at the end of the rainbow or will the warranty run out first??

Question

Does anyone else find this happens after a (front) window has been opened? I have to stop to open the door to restore seal and eliminate wind noise.
Any cures recommended?
(PS Have tried everything available from Boots!)

I get the same problem as well. When you open the window then close it it does not sit on the seal properly. The trick I have is to push on the window with my elbow as it closes pushing it out not an ideal solution but it works!

Found a thin smear of washing up liquid on the seal helps the window glass slide over the seal. Have had no such problems since I found out this trick.

Hello there, my car is a lefthander model and I have the same wind noise problem. The passenger side does not make any noise if you put the window down and up but the drivers side is impossible to adjust properly to reduce wind noise. I have spent a full weekend trying to sort it out and now is better but not perfect yet.

Cool

Attentionii.......

Andy Tang is correct , should be a warranty job my My00 went in to dealers last week with similar thing i.e. excessive WIND Noise....

Do a check by:-

1/sit in car and lower window, then
close it.(make sure the door remains shut throughout!!)
2/look at the window where it meets the 'B' post(a' post is at windscreen, b' in the middle ,c' between rear sidewindow/back window) window/backwindow...got the idea)
the best way is to look towards the rear of the car along the level of the glass..
3/ look very carefully, usually if you get noise then you will see a gap between the rubber and glass.
4/a second way to check is to then open the door and grab hold of the window....if it moves or feels slightly sloppy.....Visit dealers.....

Because the window is loose in its mountings..

Finally take some reading materials with you the job takes between 30- 40 mins.

enjoy.

m.

My 99MY has had the drivers door adjusted twice so far and the window still does not seal well. Better if you shut the window before closing the door but not perfect. Also noticed if I jet wash the car the drivers window is the only one that leaks under the high pressure jet.

Unhappy

Wind noise got so bad after I opened it while driving (then closed it) that I opened the door to reseal it.

Trouble was that I was doing 80 at the time. Window got caught on the little black thingy and would not shut. I thought the window was going to burst. Very scary.

Am I stupid or what.

Floyd,

Don't know how to reply politely!!

Why don't you get your dealer to have a look at it?

Mine is being done tomorrow on my MY99! Hope that stops me whistling out of tune to the radio!!!

Instant solution!

Drastic I know... Buy a WRX. No problems on these....

On a serious note. Both my previous Scoobs had this problem and any solution, was only ever temporary. Just one of those pain up the rectum things one has to accept...

There was a good post on this some months ago (curse that blasted search facility ) The verdicts were:
#Many owners of newish UK spec cars have the problem.
#Anything dealers fiddled with didn't last long.
#It seemed that the window motors just didn't have the power to push the final few millimeters against the rubber seal.
#There is a liquid product available to condition and lubricate rubber which helps things quite a bit.
#If you let the window close as much as it wanted to and then kept pulling the switch to wind it up a few times it was as if you could get an initial spike of p[ower from the motor which would form a seal whilst driving.
#Or...you just had to open the door and shut it again.
#Just one of those little characterisics like the greasy streaks that appear on the drivers window near the wing mirror.

This just stuck in my head for some reason, shame I can't remember all posts so well.
