Question

Does anyone else have trouble filling up? I collected my scoob last night and OMFG wow however when the little needle pointed to da E I decided it was time for a pitstop (my local shell sells super). To my dismay it took me ages to fill up because either the nozzle wouldn't go in far enough (and no it wasnt Diesel ) or fuel was just sprayed in to fast and backwashing to cut it off. Is this just shell nossles or a common problem? Not that im complaining of course...

Cool

'It's a feature of the car sir'

Dizzy, you want to turn the nozzle clockwise 90 degrees after you have put it in so that the handle is pointing along the line of the car. It stops splashing back when you do that and only takes 10 minutes to fill up instead of half an hour

I can second that advice... for some reason I find BP and Shell pumps fill mine faster than Esso or Sainsburys - not sure about Tesco cos ours doesn't have SUL!

.... and don't stand in line with the filler in case the petrol splashes back or the nozzle cut-off doesn't work

The trick is to turn the nozzle 90 degrees clockwise, so the hose points towards the back of the car. Although the nozzle still doesn't go in all the way, the fuel goes in much more easily. Definitely works with the Shell garage in HW.

Cheers

Andy.

I find if you stick your nozzle in upside down you can get it right the way in without any problems!

You could also check the breather pipe isn't blocked or kinked.

I had this problem with both BP and Shell with my old Rover so stopped filling up at them. Fewer problems with the the Rover and Esso, Tesco, Elf and Sainsburys garages. The local Elf closed and Tesco don't do SUL but have had no problems filling with Esso and Sainsburys with my 95WRX!

Perhaps the Jap cars (WRXs, STIs, etc) are different to the UK cars and don't suffer from it. Any other import owners not get problems?
