Question

Fitted an oil temp gauge last weekend. Can anyone tell me what sort of temp it should be running? Oil is 10w50 and the sensor is in the sump. Just to confuse matters gauge reads in Farenheit.

Steve, i done some conversion thingies a while back as mine is the same. These were got from a conversion website.
140F =60.c
160F =71.c
180F =82.c
195F =90.5.c
210F =98.c
225F =107.c
240F =115.5.c
270F =132.2.c
300F =148.8.c
I think 225F is hot enough!

Cheers. It appears mine is running @ 180F. Seems to be about right as it's in the middle of the gauge.

How come you used the sump?

Wouldn't the hex point / bung on the block give better indication? (above cyl no3)

I used the sump plug cos mine's a Sport and it's a nightmare to get to the hex plug on the top of the engine. The alternator would have to be taken off completely as well as a few other bits. I think you do get a better reading but I don't think it's that much difference.
