Would a 99STI ECU work in a uk MY99? If it does what gain could you expect?

I think the loom and connectors will be different to be honest. Anyway, why fit an Import ECU to a UK car. It's asking for trouble

I'm not an expert on this - but isn't the Prodrive ECU a remapped STI ecu?? The STI ECu may well physically fit your car, but the mapping could well cause problems..........!?

Not only that, but the STi ECU will be mapped for a higher octane fuel (as used in Japan) so eventually your engine might go pop!!! Do you really want to run octane booster and RON97 forever ? MY 99 ECU is mapped for UK fuel, and will run on RON95, although not advised.
