Question

hi ,
just had a scoobyecu fitted to my car (sti version 2). until now, it has always been run on optimax and millers octane plus. the new map is for 97/98 ron fuel, so i would presume it is safe to stop using octane booster ??

or should i maybe stick a bottle in every few tanks?
anyone use octane booster in their uk cars?

sorry if this is a really stupid question....

When I had the scooby ecu in my 96 uk I did not use octane booster , as advised by Dave W, BUT now with a Apexi ecu and a few more horses I use it , cheers Alan.

Though the point of the scooby ECU was to map for Optimax so you could stop adding booster (also more power obviously). I did this when I had a WRX.

I dont imagine it would be any use at all on a standard UK, as I thought the standard ECU couldn't re-learn to that degree, to benefit the extra RON.

just because the car can run without it , doesn't mean there aren't any benefits from using it, and if you've added a scooby ecu then the car isn't standard. My car has a few mods and defo runs better with booster. I get quite a good perfomance increase with NF, while most of the others are marginal.

Wanted, has that been proved on a rolling road? Just interested. Im sure David Wallis etc could do more with the ECU if it was mapped for Optimax and booster, if thats what you required.

Dark Blue Mark. I have thought about getting it mapped to run on NF (it was David who did my original map) but with the recent shortage there may be times when it's not available.
