Unhappy

got a problem with a my96 wrx. after checking diagnostics, i have manged to trace the problem back to the ecu. i have found that the ecu is only sending two signals to the igniter wich goes on to the coils. hence its only running on two cylinders, on other ignition wire fires 3 times and then stops.
could this be something wrong inside the ecu tryed an english one but didnt know whether it was compatable (still didnt work).
Or could it be a sensor which is causing this.

Any information is greatfully recieved
Thank you

could be a sensor, cam and crank sensors being the ones in question.

thought of the cam and crank sensors but thought that if its running on two cylinders that these should be ok. (if the timing was out i presumed that it would,nt run at all) if this is wrong please put me right.
