Question

Hi, have been chatting to america on the phone just now - the guys at Gruppe-S. Not totally convinced so wanted to ask if anyone here could help or had dealt with them before?

Was thinking about manifold and up-pipe for MY00 uk turbo. Problem is, on asking them about diferent sized up pipes, they didn't seem to know what i was talking about? Said they now just use the flexi up pipe(?2.5") They also said the manifold they are producing now will fit my car. Is that right? Do the new ones still fit the old cars?? Also asked them about joint from pipe to manifold blowing - they said they still just have the 2 bolt fixing, but assured that it should not blow. Wasn't there talk about a 3 bolt version to stop blowing problem??

Also, what are they like to order from? Efficient? Quick?

Cheers,
Dxx

I've been to their shop many times and am a happy repeat customer. However, they are very close to me, so nothing has to be shipped, I just walk in, pay cash, and leave with the parts. :-)

I think the best way to deal with them is to make sure you know what you want, and then order it. Since they deal mostly with US Spec cars, they may not be able to answer your questions about fitment on UK spec cars.

I organised the second group buy, and again dealt with Max. I had no problems at all - quick delivery and helpful service.

Gruppe-S revised their design of Impreza manifold (v1 to v2) and introduced a flexible up-pipe. The v2 had a smaller collector (hence the smaller diameter up-pipe) than v1. You can't swap up-pipes; AFAIK there's only one available per version of manifold. v1: larger collector with solid up-pipe. v2: smaller collector with flexible up-pipe.

Yes, the new (v2) manifolds do fit the old cars. I have their v2 manifold and flexi up-pipe fitted to my MY00.

I've not heard about the "3-bolt" solution. My manifold was blowing initially, but removing and refitting resolved the problem.

Hope that helps.

Talking

My GRUPPE-S headers arrived today, i dealt with Max, he's a sound guy. Headers actually took three weeks to arrive but that was because they got lost in Germany, spoiler ordered at same time took 10 days. Bolt pattern is still two hole on flange
