Yes identical..
From memory..
Pull back carpet in passenger footwell.. one plastic bung type thing in top left corner and then it will pull out around the plastic cover on the left, although I think you have undo one of the fixings on that.
Undo the I think 4 10mm bolts in the cover and then one nut again 10mm which is right at the top..
Lift cover off.. undo two 10mm nuts holding the ecu down..
Disconnect the 4 plugs from the ecu and lift it out..
Undo the screws on either side of the ecu.. lift off cover..
slot ScoobyEcu in and cut.. J1 or L1 I can never remember which (check on www.scoobyecu.co.uk etc).. refit..

May not be that simple. Simon's car is a UK model so it has a nice socket in there ready to receive the module. Jap ecu's generally (not always tho) don't have this socket there. So you'd need to take the ecu out and solder the socket onto the main board. I wouldn't try this unless your handy with a soldering iron and know what your doing.

As mentioned above it will need a socket fitted.
You will have to desolder the blank location (2 rows 14 holes) then fit a IC socket.
Then plug the chip in with the indent/pin 1 marking to the left (with the ECU connector orientated so that it is at the top).
Then cut/remove J1 a borwn vertical mounted resistor 'NOT' L1 which is similar.

spent all afternoon getting the solder out the holes and then i attached the scooby ecu, cut the brown cable and then put it all in the car.. reconnected battery and turn ignition everything lights up but car won't start. not sure if i have killed the ecu... i then took out scooby ecu and soldered the bown cable back and reconnected it all back up and the car is still doing the same, i tried re setting the ecu connecting green green black black. and nothing happens.. now i got dead scooby over christmas

Make sure you havn't shorted anything together when you de-soldered and re-solder.
If it took you all afternoon it sounds like your tools were not up to the job. It would normally take me about 15-20min to crack open and ECU desolder fit and re-assemble.
Also make sure the ScoobyECU is fiited correct as it is easy to fit it with the end pins hanging over the socket.
If it's a Chip and not the Adaptor make sure it;s the right way round or you may ge connecting the wrong pins to ground/live.
P.S It's a brown resistor 'J1' not a cable.

had the problem with getting the solder out the holes, its just a chip and seemed to fit in ok. what is worring me is that i took the scooby ecu off and rejoined the j1 cable and it was doing the same thing. ill have a look boxing day or something.. but worse case ive killed the ecu.. how much to get a replacement.. cause im one of those guys who have no luck!!!

i sent mine to pavlo to get it done. it only cost me 120 with post and packaging.
very impressed with it. loads more tourque and power but be carefull in the wet cuz i had mine sideways the other night cuz im not used to the power increase yet.
very worthwhile product but im still not going to beat my mates evo

jsut checked my ecu and i think its dead.. its all plugged in and when i start the key the engine goes to start but won't tick over. i tried doing the reset with the ecu and when i turn the igniton on nothing happens. it should make a noise and engine check light come on. so i jsut wanna confirm thats a dead ecu? got a replacement ecu out of a 93 wrx import picking up the weekend

Eagerly awaiting the new batch of chips in the new year..in fact im drooling with anticipationall these comments and threads on how good it is and how it transforms the car are a big tease:P...hmmmi think ill go and smooth out the intercooler fins with a toothpick to pass the time.

mine cost 120 fitted. thats for everything though. p & p. got mine from pavlo but i believe that david wallis also does them. but the chips are hard to get that they need, i sure they can tell you more than me mate

resoldered the J1 a borwn vertical mounted resistor and put the ecu in and nothing car still won't start also tried the restting on the ecu and nothing so. so i have ordered a new ecu which im picking up wednesday. is it a simple case of plug and plug with the replacement ecu? its also out of a 93 wrx import

Make sure the ECU code on the lid is the same i.e something like W6 or U8 on a 1993 car.
although it will still run using the better Z4 from a 1995 WRX.
It's worth checking what ECU the ScoobyECU came from too, as some of the ECU's have the Knock Correction map in a different place.
