engine revs

any advice for my wrx ra.car running ok today,come to start again but engine revs stick at 2,000-2,500.i,ve checked throttle cable and actuator rod on turbo,any help appreciated

have you checked for a fault code yet?
it could be the throttle position sensor going wonky

not sure and will probably sound stupid but don't they have an automatic choke? or something smiliar - in the past (admittedly on other cars) this has been the problem

fault cured by freeing idle control valve- many thanks all who gave me advice especially diogenese
