Morning peeps,

This isn't intended as a start to a wagon vs saloon war, but a genuine question.

I've now delayed buying a scoob until spring, winter is getting me down and my £250 golf that I bought last month is good for a laugh for the next couple of months, especially when it runs on one cylinder for a couple of minutes.

The thing is though is that I've just bought a new bass guitar amp (or stack!) and I'm unsure that a saloon will have enough room for all my gear when I'm off to play gigs so I'm now considering a wagon instead.

What I would like to know from all you clued up folk is would I notice any performance/handling/general fun differences between a UK turbo wagon and saloon (both classic shape)

Ta very much

James

To start it off.. I have a wagon btw..

Wagon weights an extra 35kgs..

Top speed suppose to be slightly faster although iirc Subaru claim 143 for wagon over saloons 144mph..

Accelleration there is nothing in it.

Handling some say wagon is better due to extra weight over rear wheels, others say it is worse and you need to had read strut brace..

With a louder exhuast the noise seems to come in through the boot on the wagon.. so can be slightly louder inside..

Other than that the same.. although you do have the advantage in that people think the wagon must be a slow version.. so you get Mondeos trying to do you at the lights that get a surprise.. lol

Wagons with 585 bhp are best. Good for carrying gear/dog etc and with the load cover on it is very discrete. Not too loud or likely to atract the wrong kind of attention.

Thanks very much guys.
I was just wanting to make sure really, having not driven one you tend to get the naive impression of 'they look a bit more like an estate, therefore they must be slower'

They aren't really an estate though, I can't quite figure out what they are. I don't think there is any other car quite like it - half way between shapes

Harvey,

Impressive looking motor pal, well done!
Is it still actually useable as a daily car with that kind of power

Yes. Absolutely no problem popping to the shops or things like that. You would not know it had so much power and the only real give aways are all the instruments and transmision noise as a result of slid enine and gear box mounts.
