Been looking back through all the posts trying to find a contact mumber for various tuners who are capable of using the Apexi equipment.

DOn't mind travelling, but would prefer someone in the NorthWest.

I heard of someone who is really good in Mawdsley, any ideas?

Also, some rough prices of what I'll be looking to pay.

Cheers

Andy

I'll second that Mr Gav

He is in Edinburgh but don't let that put you off, there are so called "tuners" closer but none compare.
The drive up there is a bit tedious but the drive back will be superb

That sounds good to me, my Auntie lives in Glasgow.

Has anyone got an idea of cost and a contact number?

Cheers

ha ha ha!! your a charmer aren't you.

Fair enough it's a skyline forum but I think the results speak for themselves.

The results certainly do don't they

I am not a charmer just honest, Andy Forrest was better at mapping my car than RB.
I should know I have used both.

Skylines are Skylines and RB specialise in those. They are not experts with Subaru's and there are better tuners than RB for Subaru's as I know from personal experience. I am not saying though that I wasn't happy with RB, I was. Andy Forrest is better that is all.

I've had a few Subaru's and had them looked at by several of the well respected experts that frequent these and 22B.com's pages. I've never had anything but good service from all of them. Admittedley the boys at RB didn't know everything about subaru's when I first visited them last year, but now i think they are more than up to speed. I wouldn't let ANYBODY apart from them map my car as the level of service and Power FC knowledge is absolutely first class. If any other tuner can squeeze more (driveable, smooth AND reliable) power from a car then i will happily eat everbodies hats

As an example a friend's 99 uk car with only full HKS exhaust, Greddy iridium plugs, Nismo fuel reg, HKS actuator and Cord's custom parallel fuel feed system made 307bhp at Well lane. And it has not missed a beat for nearly 10000 hard miles.

Forgot to add the important bit that it has a Power FC in it.

Am sure that from all the reports Andy knows his way round a Power FC, but for my money NOBODY can touch RB.

Just because we have used one tuner and one tuner alone makes us blinkered. If we all believe what any one tuner tells us, like I have done in the past with RC and RB then we become tuners dreams.... ie, lets tell this ******** he needs XY & Z, he'll believe us, we'll be quids in I fully believe that those companies are after a fast buck out of you rather than giving a **** about your car.
Experience is the reason I am writing what I am writing. I have been there done that had my fingers burnt etc. etc..

There is absolutely no substitue for using people that care about your car rather than ripping you off.

Alanbell:- wow! 326bhp Surely not on standard turbo? or is uk96 different to uk99? Please can you list your mods?

Alanjack:- Read the first few lines of my post again, I've had several cars tuned by several different experts. My view is in no way blinkered. Also read that the service from other tuners was also very good. Just in the realms of Power FC's i believe RB to be very good. And honest to deal with

Enough said.

If you come on this board claiming to be from RB, be from RB and don't sit on the fence.

We are a busy workshop and have many cars through each week. I don't deal with the billing or booking-in side of things so linking a name to a car is a lot harder than linking a face to a car. I don't remember any Alan Jack (or Jackson, or anything else similar either) let alone an undescribed oil leak. Am sorry if you have some kind of a problem with us but if you think I am some kind of fraudster and am not who I claim i am then fine. We will leave it at that.

I think some of the words being used here are a bit strong and perhaps not warranted ?
I believe Alan was advised (not sure by whom) that his excessive oil consumption/oil leak was due to his turbo seals having failed. I advised that it was most probably his breather system requiring attention, seals don't fail on the TD series turbos without journal bearing issues and it was still boosting fine.
It is not uncommon for the OE breather system to be unable to cope with the increased blow-by of an engine running higher boost. The intercooler, airfilter and pipework then become saturated with oil.
It is an easy mis-diagnosis to make and doesn't necessarily mean the tuner referred to was trying to make a fast buck.

Andy

Trevor B.:If you have used R.B. but not andy Forrest then you are not in a position to pass a comparative judgement. Alan has used both and despite the long journey from the Manchester area to the Edinburgh district where Andy is based he clearly found it worthwhile.
Andy specialises in Subaru work, owns a 440bhp Scooby which did 11.66 secs at Ten of the Best with a 170+ top speed, has done quite a few Apexi systems and knows TD05s inside out and does TD06 conversions.
None of this is meant to detract from RB who I am sure are very competant but they may specialise in other areas or handle a wider spectrum.

BTW. Andy's 11.66sec car is for sale. I think he was asking £10k with everything but expect that is negotiable.

Hi all,

I don't post much on these boards but I thought I would on this occasion.

I have dealt with RB Motorsport before and I have found them to be VERY helpful, friendly, knowledgable, honest, busy :-), and have done me a few favours that other garages would have never done without charging me.

I am not in the RB Motorsport appreciation society so don't jump on me, I'm just sharing how I perceived them to be.

AndyF seems a top bloke as well though, and he is mapping my car.

Cheers

No problem Mr Cord.

My problem is not with you, it is with companies who take the **** by selling you things you don't need and telling you things that are/could be wrong with your car when they are guessing and clutching at straws.

Lets just leave it at that
