Mods or no mods - how many miles do you get???
#1
I have a 94 uk and never let it go below quarter of a tank, I generally tend to get around 160 - 200 miles from 3/4 of a tank. My car is totally standard but I was wondering, with doing all these re-maps and de-cats etc, does it really get that much worse?
I understand that there is re-maps you can get with better performance along with the added bonus of better fuel consumption, is this right and do any of you have this?
Any replies will be much appreciated.

I've just got myself a V5 type-r. Its had a new engine, so its being carefully run in, but I was still pretty amazed to get 286 miles from 45 litres of Optimax(plus octane booster)!
This compares to a max of about 220 from the two UK turbo's I have run for the last four years.
I don't know if this is a record, but in the two tanks since I have got 250+ miles too.
The engine is standard, although it will get mapped for UK fuel when its properly run in.

I have a MY95WRX full decat and scoobyecu chip - in town driving get ~220-240 miles per tank, on open roads can get up to 300miles if driving gently.
I find you can get the fuel gauge right down to the middle of the empty 'E' mark before it really is needing fuel - can the get in about 40-45 litres.

I get more mpg now (loads of mods) than when there were no mods. Largely due to the mix of no cats & a wideband lambda, I think - the car is happy running at almost 16:1 AFR at a cruise & very low MAP due to the 'oversize' turbo.
However... I do have the capability of getting through an astonishing amount of fuel if I try

UK MY00, H&S decat downpipe and silencer, K&N panel, HKS FCD, GBE MBC set to 17psi, BP Ultimate + bottle of Millers every fill up. 220 - 230 miles down to warning light (50 litres). Doesn't seem to make much difference how hard I drive it, same consumption every time, give or take 10 miles. AFR seems just about OK 0.85 - 0.90 using a cheapo lambda. Knocklink's happy. I think it desperately needs a remap for a tad more advance, so time to start saving the pennies...

MY93WRX, scoobyecu remap to 16.5psi, full s/s exhaust and ITG panel filter - 220-240 per tank, increasing to 280 on long runs (motorway / A roads).
Its thirstier through the twisties
Edited to add - 16.5psi = 1.14bar

Many thanks for all your replies guys, its good to see its all about equal though.
Generally when i fill up the tank, from 3/4, it normally takes up to 35 litres, so i suppose not bad at all.
Once again, its interesting to see what the differences are (or not) with the mods you all seem to have.
Cheers!!!
