TYPE R INTERMITENT POWER LOSS?

ANY SUGGESTIONS PLEASE ..... I HAVE A 98 STI4 TYPE R EVERY KNOW AND AGAIN I GET A POWER LOSS POSSIBLY FUEL STARVATION IT WONT REV OVER 4000 AND LASTS FOR ABOUT 20 OR 30 SECONDS OR SO THEN FINE ALSO EVEN WITH A FULL TANK OF FUEL DURIN HARD CORNERING THE ENGINE DIES THIS ALSO HAPPENS WITH SUDDEN BUMPS IN THE ROAD..... I AM THINKIN POSSIBLY FUEL PUMP ANY IDEAS?

Could possibly be going into "safe mode", for example if your speedo goes knackered and the ecu isnt getting a feed back then it limits the revs on the car.
Maybe a bad connection somewhere (not much help i know) especially if it happens when going over a bump sending it into "safe mode"..
