Default Bonnet vents

Is it OK to remove the plastic behind the bonnet vents for better cooling - or does it have a detrimental affect on the electrics letting all the water/moisture in!?

Cheers

some say removing them causes 'cold spots' in the engine. To be honest, neither of my scoobies has ever suffered from running hot or overheating so I'd leave them on !

Leave on. IIRC if you remove them, air rushing over bonnet causes suction effect, pulling hot air up from engine bay and out of vents, PAST air induction kit (if fitted) and so increasing air intake temps and decreasing perforamce. Can be overcome by forcing air down into vents by using mini bonnet scoop - but if it rains - water into filter = badness as well. Obviously mini scoop on other side = water onto fuse box..... DOH!

I took my vent off over my induction kit and started to hit boost cut straight away, had to turn dawes down a smidge. So it did give me a performance increase, put it back on now in the winter though....

Sounds like its a case of trying it out in the dryer, warmer weather - will take them off for runs at the Pod and stuff perhaps!!

I have never had mine in and experienced no problems at all.

As said already

Leave on when the rain is about.

Take off when weather is clear.

Put one of these on and it makes a hell of a differance in the winter and cool summer nights.
At 40 mph+ you will get loads of outside air (cooler) coming in at the same speed your driving, hence cool air is better than hot engine compartment air!!
