Has anyone re-painted their Inlet Manifold from an STI??
What paint did you use and how did you prime it??
I have bought some Wrinkle Red spraypaint from 'Frosts' but I'm not sure how to get the best finish?? Do I need to 'etch' the Alloy first, and then Bake when painted??
Cheers

Mine was done before I collected it, so I didn't do it myself, but I read a few threads on it at the time.
Mine was done with the same paint as you have, and it has a great finish. David at API, (who rebuilt my engine, and presumably painted it too) recommends that the manifold is well degreased and warmed before applying the paint.
I doubt it needs to be baked as the engine heat should have that effect anyway.
Without the search working, thats the best I can do![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
If you want more info, I guess a phonecall to API would be the way to go.

Thanks T-gro, We do repaint all STi manifolds when we do a rebuild as they are usually more silver than red, The exact colour is impossible to get in the UK. The nearesr match is Red Crackle SP204 from Frosts who are somewhere up North. Can't remember exactly where, but if you call me Monday, anybody, l'll happily pass on the number or post it on here anyway.
You do need the manifold untouchable hot to get the crackle finish if you put it on then try to heat it the paint will stay boring flat finish unless you are really lucky.
Good luck all David API

David, Thanks for the reply. Yes the paint I have bought is the same stuff you mention, SP204 Red Crackle. I think I will get a mate in a Bodyshop to paint it for me then, as he could heat it in an 'oven' first!
