Default O2 Sensor Required

I have been suffering with hesitation for a week or so and have tonight performed an ECU reset only to be shown 3 long flashes followed by 2 slow ones Lambda Sensor is shot.

I thought that GGR sold them but having been on the website they show them for the early WRX's ?? Can anyone tell me where to get one from - I want the oem Subaru part as the one that has failed was a cheap £30 job that'll teach me.

Thanks in advance.

Try here for cheap lambda sensors:

http://www.cats-direct.com/oxygen_sensors.htm

They are as good as the OEM ones.

Hope that helps
Stuart

When you say early WRX do you mean early enough that the Lambda is mounted in the headers as opposed to the DP on later vehicles?

If so, then this is why the lambda failed as the 'cheap' ones are not designed to work at the temperatures in the headers.

However, IIRC, should you have a decat DP fitted with the hole for the lamda then there is nothing stopping you from mounting it here instead and extending the electrics.

Otherwise, as you say, you'll need the OEM part.

Sorry guys should have explained myself a bit better - I have a MY00 UK Turbo and when I decatted it recently the old O2 sensor that came out did not look very good and the thread was pretty screwed too. I bought a replacement from cats-direct and cut the connector from the old Lambda and crimped etc. onto the new one. Fine originally but 10-14 days later and the car starts playing up only to find I have CEL 32 error. Have tried a reset twice now and the CEL continues to flash after the reset...its definitely gone !

Yes the O2 sensor does screw in to the top of the d/p - I just need to know whether the MY00 Lambda is any different than the My98 or MY96 etc....cos Graham Goode show 2 prices for 2 different O2 sensors for a WRX ?? I assume a WRX and UK would run with the same sensor ?

Any ideas would be more than welcome cos I am needing to source a replacement very soon.

Ooooer, that's a bit worrying

I know it sounds like a daft question, but do you think anything could have caused this? Use of exhaust paste etc?

I've just fitted an O2 sensor to my MY99 from Cats Direct, seems ok so far, but it woz only last week.

Oh BTW, meant to add. Mine's an STi and I just fitted the O2 sensor from Cats-Direct, I think an O2 sensor is an O2 sensor. (Build quality and band width aside)

I have no idea what could have caused it I must admit the new sensor (from cats direct) looked nowhere near as robust as the oem Bosch unit I removed.

Oh well looks like a trip to the dealers then

Well I have bitten the bullet and ordered the oem O2 sensor from my local dealer. £98.53 +VAT and Delivery. I must have been unlucky with the one I got from cats-direct

Thumbs up sensor

I also had problems with oxy sensor on wrx my93import. No aftermarket one would work but th oe part was over £230 but I was given a replacement part no off a british legacy and only cost £125 all in so yes I would stick with original parts where possible unless a good mech nows otherwise

hope this helps Chris, llanelli, s.wales
