Default Just lost boost !!!!! ????

Any help on this.......

Been giving it quite a good blast today and come to drive home tonight and ive lost boost.
Im running 17psi with dawes device and full decat and have been running this for about 2 months.
Its now struggling to reach 9psi :s

Now it has been quite hot before i came to drive home, have just let it cool down and turned off when i got home. What could it be??? will it be ok in the morning?? other that that it is ok but bloody slow

It an MY00 Classic WRX (belgium import) if thats any use.

Thanks nightshift lol

What other mods do you have in, how is the idle vacuum readings looking, maybe split the IC pipe?

Check all the pipework including the small bore vacuum hosing. If you were still runing the standard boost solenoid I'd say the ECU was in limp home mode, but even if it was, you'd still make boost as the Dawes has full control. It's got to be a pipework issue, imho

Thats what i was thinkin when i was driving home, cant be boost solenoid or anything like that coz its all by-passed.
Will go and check my pipes around the dawes and make sure nothing has melted etc. Is it possible for that small restrictor in the pipe to move around and block it ????
At least at the moment i got a positive thought about it not being anything major, might just be half hour of cutting my hands to shreads re tubing etc.

just checked it and you seem to be right REV. The small tube from the wastegate to the bottom of the dawes is kind of hard and melted slightly. I think this could be the root cause. Now i got a mission to try and find some hose

I just used petrol hose on mine which seems to work ok, just get the right size bore. Alternatively, I'm sure I've got some spare bits that'll work. Give me a bell on 07968 478269 if you want to pop round for some.

Cheers REV,

Just had a closer inspection though now and dont think its that piece of hosing. Took everything to bits and it seems ok. Ive noticed an oil leak from round the back of the intercooler though which is dripping on my lamba sensor conection plug. think this could be the problem ??

John

Check your intercooler hose underneath the intercooler, especially where it connects to the turbo, and especially if it is a samco, they are prone to 'slipping off'

Yes, most definitely. If there's a leak in one of the connections to the I/C, air will be blown out of the system instead of into the engine.

Double check that all three connections on the Y-piece are still firmly made, and give the jubilee clip screws a bit of a turn just to be certain.

Hope you're running a KnockLink and AFR meter BTW.

As GM states John

My car did it a while back, and 2 other scoobs did it last week, all MY99/00 Classics, and yes boost was non existent

Also you could hear the turbo spool up, quite loud, but the car wouldnt go anywhere, and then erratic idling,

Once the Y piece was back on properly all was back to normal

BTW if your plastic hose is split in anyway, I have a spare in my garage

cheers for all the advice guys.

frank just been round, we tried the ecu codes by connecting the plugs under the dash and its showing no fault with the check engine light flashing on and off at a constant speed. Think this rules out that the oil on the o2 sensor plug at the top of the downpipe is causing it. The pipe thats leaking is the first pipe you see as you look uder the back of the i/c from the turbo side. There is a jubilee clip which i have now tightened up as tight as i can.
Road tested it and its still got the boost loss.
All i can think of now is intercooler off, sort that leak out and re build everything or a broken dawes ?????

John

Forgot to mention that when running higher boost, the OE intercooler pipes do have a tendency to split, if you want my old one, let me know

Im around all day tomorrow, changing my brake discs etc

If you've got the sh*t moulded plastic Subaru pipe on, yes, I certainly would. Apart from anything else, you might, as Steve suggests, find the one you've got has split.

yep

there are 3 required on our cars, Intercooler to throttle body, Intercooler Y Turbo piece, and dump valve one, I dont have a dump valve one, as I couldnt find one at the time, and havent bothered looking since

I have an intercooler one in red too I think

edited to add, forgot your running a non standard Dump Valve arent you ?

depending on the pipe work, I may have one or two other samco bits lying around LOL
