Default is the backbox with sti stamped on it classed as a performance box???

just wondering coz im in dicussions with someone to buy one.

any info would be helpful

hi, i have one , but it may be sold, but when i fitted it instead of the original impreza back box i noticed it was slightly louder, and maybe, maybe slightly better throttle responce, or was that all in the mind, lol

No, it is not classed as a performance back box,it is same design as standard with a different tailpipe.It does sound slightly better.

I wonder the same but as it is slightly noisier I guess it performs better, may be 2-3ps ah???
There are thousands of them for sale though!

Heh, when I got my Forester S/tb i harboured fantasies of snagging an STI exhaust and backbox and getting it to fit in, thinking it was all 3" free flowing, nothing could be further from the truth. The ones ive seen taken out, same 2 1/4" (56mm) piping, same baffled style backbox. At best, maybe its got less baffling than the regular boxes, only big diff from standard was downpipe mouth

just fitted one on my MY02 today, not noticed any difference in sound or performance, no extra charge for insurance either like for like swap.

put one on my GX nice cheap and a better tone, performance dunno got no turbo anyway (may aswell as get a ninja back box £215 cant go wrong)

I saw inside a standard WRX back box and is different to the STI, if you look the STI one from the back you can see the full path contrary to what happens on WRX.
