MY93 WRX: Revs slow to drop
As per title really, when sitting at a junction or in traffic the revs take ages to drop back down to idle. Idle is not always the same speed, ie normal (800ish) I've checked the throttle cable etc and it returns to its usual position. Could this be MAF related? Any help appreciated.

Hello m8
I own a 93 WRX and my car idles at 900 rpm, sometimes dropping for a short while to 800 rpm.
When i pull up to traffic lights, sometimes my revs are at 1200 ish for 30 seconds or so and then slow down to 900 rpm, I think this is quite normal personally.
if it is a lot longer than 30 seconds there may be a problem, maybe need to clean idle valve.. if these cars have one, all other Fuel injecter cars have had one... taken out, cleaned and car is idling perfect again.
hope this helps
Some Guru may wish to help out too for you :O)
Cheers

This was happening to my 93wrx for about 3 weeks. On saturday the MAF sensor failed in. After limping home the car is now sitting in my garage. Now waiting for xtreme scoobies to come back with a price. Should be around £190 + vat
