How can i reduce rev limit down from 8250
#3
Cheapest option, specialist piece of wood under the accelerator, more expensive would be a remap with the option of lowering the rev limit & having a switchable map for road/race conditions; or fit a shift light & set it to 6300, by the time you see it flash you can change up before hitting the max revs, anyhow peak power is probably around 6100 rpm

Thanks for all your replies.
I just want the enging to last thats why i want to reduce the revs.
Hence tracktoy its not going to hit the limiter everytime i go to the shops it will be getting hit in every gear.
Its easy to say change gear before but when you are going nearly flat out through crainer curves at donno the last thing you are watching is the rev counter LOL

You should be "hearing and feeling" the right time to change though, and its just over 6k rpm. Plus, if you rely on the limiter to change gear, your losing valuable time as it will cut.

You could try an aftermarket rev limiter that cuts the power to the ignitor module when you exceed the set revs.
Should be ok to use, as far as I'm aware the ECU on a classic won't show up a fault code.
Plenty about of all sorts of shapes and sizes, with launch control, full throttle shifts, shift lights/buzzers.
Although...as a note, the ignition cut of the limiter will cause excess fuel to go into the exhaust and may damage the CAT's if you still have them fitted. Also will probably give some popping and banging too as the fuel ignites in the exhuast. There may also be a a slight chance of the ECU not liking the Ignitor module being disconnected whilst running, but I can't confirm that.

Either way, this is simply a case of the driver sorting his head out, not something that needs a technological cure...

LOL @ GM....."not something that needs a technological cure..." missed your vocation in life..
You should have been a Dr "not something that needs a medical cure...you need to get off your **** & get a job"

From: Leeds - It was 562.4bhp@28psi on Optimax, How much closer to 600 with race fuel and a bigger turbo?
I WOULD NOT use a revlimiter that does an IGN cut..
You can seriously damage an engine doing this.. I would use a fuel cut to do it..
If you cut ign.. fuel is still injected and then ignited in the next gear which could cause severe det and **** the ring lands or just destroy rods / pistons etc.
