![Question](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/icons/icon5.gif)
I am wondering if anyone can help before I make a visit to my local dealer.
I have a MY03 WRXSTi TypeUK and last night noticed a noise from the front wheels. Let me explain.......
The car has done about 5250 miles since new in September.
Last night I came home from a drive and free wheeled in to my road (slight gradient) to keep the noise down and noticed that when I turned the wheels to the left there was a feint squeling noise similar to that of brakes squeling. Turned around and drove back along the road but couldn't seem to mimic the noise when under power (maybe couldn't hear it over the engine/exhaust).
Any ideas?
Could it be the brakes rubbing when turning? or something more serious? or is it a case of "they all do that sir"

It might have been but it sounded more like it was coming from the front wheel and only when the car was moving, thats why I thought it sounded like the brakes rubbing. Very similar sound to brake squeel (sp?) very high pitched only not as loud.

If it's gone I wouldn't worry too much. If there's a next time just wind the windows down straight away. It could simply have been one of the brake pads touching the disc lightly, or it could always have been a small piece of grit in there somewhere.
When you say you freewheeled in, do you mean that the engine was off, or just idling. If it was off, that rules out the PAS pump and a rash of similar engine driven noises.
If in any doubt, try and replicate the situation as close as you can, but with the windows down and engine off. Should soon zero you in on exactly where it's coming from.
