Default Knocklink Q??

I will be fitting a Knocklink tommorow, I read a little while ago that I may need a longer bolt to fit the sensor to the block, if so where's the best place to source one from?

The car's a MY99 Sti 5 Type R.

Alrite m8

When I fitted my knocklink I got the longer bolt from my local car accessory store. Can't remember what size it is though!

Good choice of car by the way!

Cheers

Existing OE uses M8x20mm. New Bosch sensor needs M8x30mm. I could only get my hands on some long bolts, so I just cut it down to size. Got mine from Homebase.

I went to B&Q and they sell everything but the 30mm.

In the end I went to a local hardware store

If you can't get 30mm, you could always use 35mm or 40mm and use a few washers... works alright for me anyway.

Well it's looking bleak on fitting it today as the weather is against me, A while ago someone put pic's up where they mounted the knocklink, if they could post the link or the pic's I would be most grateful.

MY99 UK RB5. Should look exactly like your MY99 STI (except for the red manifold).

Excellent. I had to settle for a M8 40mm bolt in the end, will have to cut it down.

Thanks lads for all your input, its all fitted now, did'nt need to cut the bolt down in the end, just used the nut that cam with the bolt to fill the gap.

One last question though, how do you adjust the sensitivity?

Personally I would just leave it on maximum sensitivity and see just what (if any) noise appears on the Knocklink.

You really need det cans and someone with experience to fine tune the display, especially when diagnosing any suspect activity.

Tape the bolt with a thin screwdriver and the display should light up all the way to the Red. Then just leave it on max and go for a blast and see if the car displays and problems, especially under heavy load.

Thanks Stefan, just need to know where you adjust it, if I need to?
