'dump valve' connection...
Does anybody know what would happen if a standard recirc dump valve was fitted the wrong way round???
for those who have read my other thread , some thing i found today, was the std dump valve was fitted wrong way round ...ie, arrow pointing towards the intercooler area, rather than towards the air intake ..
Could this cause a significant increase in pressure, enough to cause head gasket failure....???
many thanks
Frank

I would speculate that the worst damage this would cause (depending on boost pressure, length of time unit fitted incorrectly) is stress to the turbine fins. If the turbo is functioning correctly (ie bossting without whinning noises) then you may have got away with it in my opinion. Some cars do run turbos without dumpvalves (as reassurance!)
