Default MY02 - removing airbox inside inner wing

Hi guys,

I remember reading ages ago (but can't find anything on search) a thread that was about removing the airbox that resides in the inner wing.

Anyhow, I had a look this weekend:

Took off the wheel, removed the inner wing.

Looking up I could see this huge bulbus box just hanging there. I was just going to remove the whole thing, but doing this would have just left two big holes.

Is this correct procedure ? or should a short bit of ducting be used to connect up the two holes ?

CHEERS !

Mark.

Not sure what to do after you've removed it, but be careful that water doesn't get into the airbox and onto the MAF. It could cause the engine to run lean if the MAF is misreading.

Do you have a Knocklink or AFR gauge in your car?

Mark,
This link is for removal of the box and replacement with either drainpipe or trumpet:
http://www.scoobymods.com/forums/showthread.php?t=113

or the US also has a link pipe to cross from the air filter box to the intake section under the bonnet:
