Default Fitting a 1998 wrx i/c

Hi all
Just quickly. I have found a 1998 i/c i was thinking of putting on my 1993wrx. On the picture the pipe that goes from the i/c into the turbo doesnt seem to have a dump valve port and as you look in the engine from the front there is a pipe that comes off the right hand side. Whats that for as my 93 i/c doesnt have that. How do i convert it to fit into my 93 wrx?
I need to let the guy no within 1 hr!

Please help

Johnny

Thumbs up

Hi,

The small angled pipe coming directly off the i/c on the right is the dump valve connection.

you will find the small angled pipe to the right fouls on the idle speed controller, you need to have it removed and sealed off, you then need to insert a t piece into the hose coming from the I/C to the turbo, its by no means an easy job and you need to hack away a fair bit of metal to get it to fit.

does make a fair bit of difference though

So all i have to do is get a longer pipe to reach from there to the top of the manifold to house my dump valve?

Thanks

no it physically gets in the way, look at the bottom right hand side and imagine the elbow being there, it fouls on that pipe.

Smile this is what I done

Does the intercooler your thinking of getting have a alloy hoses coming off its front RH side, this is were the dv fits (98)
Ive fitted the above type tmic to my95, What I done was cut off the alloy dv hose & had a plate welded in its place (blanked off)
The reason I had it removed & blanked because it help fitting as the original alloy hose from the 98 tmic would touch against the ICSV (manifold). Well thats what I think its called (icsv)
My tmic also came with the under neath alloy 'y' piece.
I removed the lip off the alloy throttle hose from tmic & the tb as well.
I used samco turbo kit hosing, more flexible & helped fitting
Plus I kept the original dv in place.
I just never got round to making the brackets to hold the tmic.
It a very tight fit.

The original turbo hose was **** so i replaced it with the samco kit.
The under samco hose has a smaller diameter hose for dv fitting connection.
My old piping had a straight alloy pipe T shape which plumbed into the black plastic y hosing. The plastic had split, hence the change.
Back to the samco, the under hose is longer I had to cut some off for it to fit. The smaller hose that T's off for the dv is long as well, so when I fitted the straight sti (98) I just pulled the hose so it lines up with the angle for fitting the original dv. Thats its.
I was going to fit the HKS SSQV but the original worked fine for me.
I cut the tmic alloy hose off & paid £15 to have a small sq flat piece of alloy welded in place.

If you help pm me
