Default Removing MAF

Hi people,

I have a question which i've been meaning to ask, 'as part of my understanding whats going on under there' i have a MY00, i understand the MAF problems with these cars. What would need to be done to completeely remove the MAF, my theory here is making something possibly more reliable whilst doing an upgrade with the car at the same time. Also, whatever is involved here, is it worthwhile?

many thanks,

An aftermarket ECU running off MAP.

I am trying to retain the original ECU and doing a project which is just spouting arms and legs to remove the MAF sensor to allow more air flow, higher airflows than the MAF can read, reliability and space for big filters. The devil is in the detail though. So far I have one remaining issue on the prototype which is making the system enrich the mixture satisfactorily when the throttle is quickly opened. Think the MAF reading change slightly quicker than MAP so MAP needs a bit more enrichment from the looks of it.

It is not and never will be commercially viable compared to an aftermarket ECU. They start from abuot £700 for a Link to remove the MAF sensor.
