dump valves

Default dump valves

a really stupid question but ive got a 97 wrx wagon where is the standard dump valve and when fitting a new one what happens to the standard one also which is the best one to go for

Hi mate

On MY97, it should be same as MY98, in which case, as you look at the engine from the front of the car, there is an elbow on the front of the intercooler that goes to the right, and down.

The standard recirc valve is in balck plastic format, and has 3 hoses going to it, including the one you just followed. You will replace the standard one altogether, so you can take it off the car, and leave in your garage, until you sell the car, then put it back on.

As for the best one to go for, it's debatable. There are loads to choose from. HKS do great ones, as do Blitz, Turbo Smart, Forge Motorsport, etc. They all give different sound, and cost very differently. If you want a cheapish one, I have a Forge one for sale, with 2 springs for different sound. 1 that does wooosh thing, and the other that will make more of a chatter noise. I'm looking for £65.
