Question Changing Fuel Pressure doesn't seem to change plug colour much

Well, since my last Tek 3 re-map, I've added a FPR 1:1. Set at 3 bar to start with and fitted new K&K filter (massive thing) to existing cold air kit. Found plugs still very clean after a run. Thought I'd try setting the fuel pressure to 3.2 bar and see what she runs like. Reset the ECU using Secs each run....found plugs same but running not as smooth.

Just surprise really that the difference in pressure didn't change plug colour much....plugs look fine, if tiny bit lean. Anyone had the same?

Its a bit dangerous to be messing about with the induction and fueling after a custom remap which would/should be tailored to the exact mods on the car at the time it was done. And spark plugs are only a general indicator to afr which, if moved a small amount leaner, could damage an engine depending on where it was set for the remap.

If you already had a fuel pump then you will have altered the fuel pressure slope consideravbly since the std reg is overpowered by an uprated pump with subsequent over fueling at low pressures, these should have been map adjusted for during the remap.

suggest caution

Thanks Bob...

I intend to have a remap, but can't do it till the clutch has been changed at least, maybe even gearbox (as that's iffy too). Car is off the road and all I do it run it about once a month just to warm it up - so lean running (and no boost) shouldn't be a problem.

Think I'll have to do a remap with larger injectors...thinking 750's.
