Default MY02 STI PPP - next upgrade

Hi there,

As the warranty expiration is coming, I am looking forward to the next step in modding.

The car is a MY02 STI UK with PPP.

Looking for a lot more power, (aren't we all).

What should be the first step in my quest.

a) Complete Decat system
b) Just a decat downpipe (retaining the rest of the ppp'd exhaust)
c) Front Mount Intercooler

Obviously an Ecutek remap will be needed after fitting any parts.

Would fitting any of the above parts require an immediate remap of the existing ppp ecu ?

Thanks.

3" or 3.5" exhaust all the way back from turbo with no cats!

Induction kit and uprated TMIC or if you can afford it a FMIC.

Proper Ecutek remap and you should be looking close to 350bhp maybe.

You have the uprated fuel pump already.

This is what I'm gonna do at some point.

Hi Lee !

So if my target point was to aim for 350bhp/350torque, can I stay TMIC (uprated item like the MRT one) or FMIC ?

3.5" complete system. Noise is a concern, am very happy with the current noise level of the prodrive system. What after market system delivers the results and not the noise ?

What makes you think that removing the PPP cat will make the car any more powerful? In our testing we found that the car produced between 0.1 & 0.2 BAR extra boost when we changed from a straight pipe (decat) to our downpipe with cat fitted. Everything about the header part of the downpipes was identical, the only difference was that our sports cat downpipe has a very large volume and properly shaped inlet and outlet cones which makes it act a little like a 2 stroke expansion chamber.

Another negative effect would be that noise levels may increase which if (hypothetically of course) you ever wanted to undertake an activity where noise levels could be an issue, you may have problems.

Lol, sounds like something out of the Matrix "What makes you think that's air your breathing?"
