MY02 upgrades

If I were to forget the remaining months left on my warranty and had £2K to spend, for instance, where should I look to have my bugeye upgraded. What performance increases are likely?

Your first pefromance upgrde should be your exhaust and ECU.
A full de-cat if you could live with the noise and MOTscenario but if not, very modist power increases can be achieved with a sports cat on the downpipe only and the rest of the system cat free.
Then a re-map of the ECU to take advantage of this is also needed.
You could even go with a new manifold to free up some more hp and all that would work out at around the £2000 mark.
ECU license re-map about £650 and header about £500, exhaust about £500 and labour on top of all that!
Very very pricey is the scooby to upgrade!
You dont say whether your car is STi or not as this makes a big difference in power levels achieved.![Wink](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)
Then again for £2000 you could get a Nos kit and have plenty left over for suspension and/or brakes.![Wink](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)
And for £2000 you will only be putting about 30/50HP on top of standard WRX Sti power.
For £2000 i would like to see about 80HP+ added but this would involve new turbo and various other upgrades adding more to the £2000...

decat, filter, Tek3 and about 800 quid change.
power up to about 280bhp, torque about 270.
Then spend the 800 quid on petrol enjoying it!
Neil.

can't complain about what I have done to mine
hks hiper backbox /centre
green air filter
BR Ecu tek remap
TSL sports cat downpipe
powerstation equal length headers
fuel pump
not sure about bhp but 5th gear on the motor way now feels like forth
6months down the line and im still looking for 6th
I like the idea or the new turbo but for full effect you need the pump and injectors

WRX Rich,
the spec of my car sounds almost exactly the same as yours (MY02 WRX modded) - except for the 'equal length headers'. Could you spare a bit of advice on what gains they gave you in terms of power, driveability, etc?
cheers
Dave

I had all my engine mods at the same time, which makes it hard to compare
with all the warnings about not running a ecutek with a catted up pipe, I had it in mind to replace the up pipe, but when I could get the equal length headers fit for the same money (a relativley small extra cost for the headers) AND keeping a close eye on Edcase's mod’s (hearing his at silverstone
)
I love the sound and wouldn't go back, last time I had it rolling roaded it had 260 bhp and 270 lbs (at powerstation
) Bob Rawling was quite complementary about the car when he mapped it, but he did say normally he will not advise equal length headers at my state of tune as unequal length produce better results
for the money ( about £300 fitted when you take away the cost of the up-pipe that I was going to fit) I am very happy
but would not advice you do it till you hear what the car sounds like

why a STI, a 911 is far better
....... ahh but I can't afford one, I was toying with this idea till I realised that I had lost 4/5 grand on this car and then I will loes just the same on a STI £10000 in two years is to rich for my blood and I bet there's not many STD sti's that will pull away from DaveR or my self

cheers for the advice Rich, I'll make sure to listen out for some elength headers then...
I did shell out for the SS uppipe, which gave me quicker spool-up, but wasn't aware of the equal length header option at the time.

Check out the "Projects" forum for a title 50% more power for 2k, was started by Fuz. It shows how he got 320bhps for about 2k, similar to what the other peeps have talked about.
Should have pictures on it too!
