I need an ECU that will run a uk99 turbo engine in a JDM WRX 99 car.
Can anyone suggest a solution or an ECU specialist?
Not after power gain, just the correct map.
Pretty please.

As Eprom says, provided you fit the complete UK EJ205 engine including the turbo, an AE800/801/802 should do the job. However, you may run into difficulties with the WRX's wiring loom. Only way to find out is likely to be to try it.

Thanks for that guys.
It is a complete engine, turbo etc.
The AE80# ecus have the immoboliser built in,so they wont work unless the immoboliser circuit can be bypassed.
A reprogrammable ecu is probably the best thing in this case, but I would like to know if there is an ecu specialist who might be able to adapt the UK ecu to fit the Jap car.Would prefer this, providing its cheaper.
Ive been told that John Banks is the man for this type of thing, but I cant seem to get in touch with him ATM.
BTW GM,my last engine failed due to a piston ring binding against the bore, and the turbo was in actual fact a vf28 (the correct turbo).
It wasnt a mismatch of parts, but simply a bodge (at least on my mechanics part).

On the face of it there seems little point buying an aftermarket programmable ECU to accomplish this task. The cost of a Link would be uneconomical bearing in mind the cost of bringing the engine back up to WRX specification and simply running that on the standard black box.
If you're dead set on putting this engine in, your best bet would simply be to get the ECU already in the car flashed with a set of AE80x maps (which should be reasonably cost-effective), or go for a TeK3. John doesn't work on a commercial basis anymore, but there are plenty of people who do, have a look at www.ecutek.com for further info.

Since the imobiliser isn't built into the MY99/00 car ecu's there is no reason why one shouldn't work given the crank and cam sensor wiring is swapped, the only other problem might be the climate control, there is a cable that the ecu pulls to ground once the engine gets above a certain temp, so it might not work however it can be hard wired so its enabled all the time (I've done it).
A far as all the other sensors are concerned they are the same apart from air intake temp if there.

Thanks for the link GM.
Interesting info Bob Rawle. My car does have a temp sensor on the intake pipe, and climate control.I would be interested to know which wires need to be swapped for the crank/cam sensors, and which wire has to be hard wired.
Thanks for the help.
