Looking into aftermarket steering wheels & am after a 280mm or 300mm but it would require thge removal of the airbag on the standard one. I know this is not the most sensible idea in the world but was wondering if anyone else had done it & fitted a Momo, Mountney etc...?

You could try asking Nito, as he has/had a Momo Millenium wheel on the silver beasty:

OK, I know his isn't a 95, but am sure it did orginally have an airbag on it. Guessing you might need to do something about the airbag sensor, as no doubt when you remove the airbag the lovely little annoying warning light will stay on.

I would think the ever helpful insurance peeps would be working themselves into a frenzy at messing with OE safety gear. ![EEK!](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/eek.gif)
It sucks & all that, but in the great scheme of things can you afford to have your insurance go **** up?
Mark.

As Mark says, removal of the car's built-in safety features tends to go down with insurers like a lead balloon (one of the advantages of bagless imports), so this aspect would be worth checking out before wasting time trying to source or retrofit wheels.
As for swapping the wheel for a later one, I'm not sure what the point would be, given that Maffa seems to want to try a small one, and that most of the potential candidates wouldn't be that much smaller than the one that's on at the moment. Think even the '03-04STi one is 365mm (even if you could make its airbag work on an old car), so is it really worth all the hassle?
Speaking of which, IMO 280-300mm is way smaller than ideal anyway. 320's probably about as small as you'd want to go in an ideal world, 330-350 would be nearer the mark.
