Not scooby

Just had a female friend on the phone with a broken NW Golf

She attempted to pull away in 1st with the Handbrake still on (dont ask) and the car stalled and it now wont start. It will turn over put does not spark.

Any suggestions to what the problem might be or things to try?

Does it have a fuel cut off switch that may have been triggered? A quick check of the handbook might reveal one, but apart from that it could be anything

Depending on what year/model etc, if the engine gets enough of a jolt or shock, I've seen them jump a tooth or two on the cambelt....this is usually more likely during a bumpstart, but if the stall was very harsh, it may be worth a look.

Was the engine stone cold when she tried to pul away, assuming it's a newer golf, the o2 sensor could be reading the unburnt fuel thats in the exhaust, and not alowing it to start, should be fine after a while, if it is that all it takes is time for it to dry out/evaporate!!
