Default what safe induction can i use - STI 5 ?

thinking of ordering a Front Mount Intercooler in Harveys group buy part III.

It won't be fitted until i buy a turbo as well ( probably an AndyF tdo5/06 ).

At present the car runs no det. whatsoever on Opti + nf using a Dastech Unichip.

If i go down the FMI route, what's the best form of air filter to use ?

Will i be safe to use an induction kit and a remap of the Unichip ?

Or should i be selling Both kidneys to get a Link to do away with the MAF ? ?

If you can do away with the MAF. All good and Well.
I was running a BLITZ LM Induction kit Allbe it with a NISSAN 300zx MAF

And was running over 400BHP (This becomes VVEERRYY DARK! after)
So do as you will.

You can always fit a MAF from the earlier cars which seems much more reliable but you would then need either a Ecutek/Unichip remap or an aftermarket ECU.

does an earlier MAF fit straight in ? If it's that easy i'll do that, and get a remap of the unichip.
Any suggestions on the best induction kit to use for it ? ?

You need to change the plug (or use small spade connectors) and fit a short piece of Samco hose around the slightly smaller diameter MAF meter so it is a tight fit in the original intake pipe. Then you can fit any induction kit you like without fear of killing the sensor.
Just make sure you don't drive it until the unichip is remapped !!

Andy, I've not heard of this before - can the Ecutek remap accomodate the earlier MAF sensor? Have a P1 with a BRD Tek3 - was going to fit a K&N 57i kit but am a wary of the MAF problems. If I can just "bodge" in a more robust MAF then I'd be a lot happier

Um - I've not had a single green spot phase 2 MAF fail on me yet. This on my car with K&N bouncing around sufficiently to blow the stock MAF after 2k km's (~40k km's ago now). It's too early to say regarding the under reading, but they appear more robust.

Don't see why the Ecutek shouldn't be able to map for the early map sensor, it may take a bit longer than a std remap.
TD05/06-20g is £850 outright or £570 exchange.
