Replacing the OE downpipe with a sports cat DP
Would this have any adverse affect on the ECU? (on an 03 WRX) if the cat is still in place (technically) would the CEL come on?
Im not sure if anybody has done this yet, but am curious to know what would happen. I intend to decat with the exception of a sports cat DP anyway before long, but wondered if its something that i could look in to doing soon.
Cheers,
Neil.
I understand they do this as part of the PPP on the UK STI?

Sports cats do not bring the CEL on. Another SNetter recently had a sports cat from Miltek fitted and was running at out local RR, was only slighly down from a full decat car and with no CEL probs at all.

Sports cat DP without catted middle section can sometimes give you a PO420 CEL but this is very rare with every good quality DP, although not impossible especially if you drive the car with high gears low load...

HI mate,
you've nothing to worry about, the exhaust spec on my MY02 WRX is TSL Sportscat downpipe, decat centre, GrpN backbox and Scoobysport decat up-pipe. I've had no adverse readings or CEL lights come on.
Just loads more lovely burble and grunt!
hope this helps
