Go for the STi belt, it's tougher!

The belt change mileage went from 45K to 60K miles about 18 months ago I think. Don't know if the belt itself changed in makeup though.
When you think of the cost of repairing all those bent valves and damaged pistons etc. I would not think twice about getting the belt changed right now. Worthwhile getting the front crankshaft oil seal changed at the same time-not expensive but better to do it now than later. Make sure they fit a genuine Subaru or a Gates belt. Don't accept one of those cheap ones that are available.
