Calling 03STI(PPP) owners with Knocklinks
Having spent the last two weeks commuting at no more than 44mph (according to the PSi3) I was able, last night, to open up a little and noticed a fair bit of Knocklink activity, especially in the higher gears (understandably). All LEDS would flash briefly on occasions when accelerating, mainly in 6th where the load is higher.
My questions are: How close to DET does the ECU operate? As I had not used that part of the map for some time, was the ECU "dipping it's toe in the water" as it were, to find how far it could go before pulling back? With all the discussion on DET and its effects on here, owning a Knocklink is a sure way to paranoia! But if manufacturers rely on the knock sensor to optimise ignition advance then it must be acceptable to see the evidence on the monitor?
With a mild set up such as the PPP it should not be necessary to use OB over and above Optimax in normal circumstances.
I would like to hear of anyone elses experiences and the comment of ECU/mapping experts out there.

My MY02 STI does the same.
I get the occasional red blip, but usually when in 5th or 6th when flooring it from lower revs, as it builds the boost....
I've never had it completely light up and stay lit up, so I can live with the very occasional blips.
