Default Turbo guidance for a bugeye?

hey guys,
i was intending to get a TD05, as i had spoke to Andy F about this some time ago, but it seems that they are very scarce now. so I need some help finding a suitable turbo for myself. I am hoping to run circa 350bhp. Car is an My01 bugeye. current mods include full decat, and PPP (was done first).
I am looking at getting the following within the next month or so:
Afterburner Vortex
Fuel Pump + 565cc Injectors
AP organic clutch with lightened flywheel
Uprated top mount IC with Sti bonnet scoop
and then a suitable turbo to match these modifications
and of course a full ECUTEK remap once this has all been completed
could somebody point me in the right direction as to which turbo would be suitable for me. thanks for your time

Scoobydoo69,

Keep up the search for the TD05FE. Its worth it.

My MY01 with similar spec made 351bhp. Then with addition of an APS FMIC made 368bhp.

Good luck with the search.

Evening Martin

Yep, as Martin says the FE TD05 is a tough turbo with a proven track record. Mapers also have a pretty good handle on how they work too.

My Bugeye is a bit behind Martins at 325 BHP but works as an every day driver.!!

Keep looking..... you know it makes sense !

FE = Front Entry.
As apposed to the 90 degrees entry on the early cars.

FE stands for "Front Entry"... The TD05 comes with a 90 degree elbow which fitted the earlier scoobs but which needs modifying to fit the bugeye. Hence the front entry bit !

Hybrid turbo's are black art country for me...they involve fitting different turbines to alternative compressor housings...a sort of "mix and match" regime to try and get low spool up, good airflow, and high pressures etc. they need a pretty good mix of supporting mods to work well......................Best left to the experts

Andy does the TD05 /06 20G which is such a beast but in my present car would probably overwhelm the fuelling, wastegate, etc..

I'm doing fine one one of Andy's bog standard (if I can say that) feTD05's with 325 BHP with some more mods planned to make full use of a very capable turbo !!

Have you thought of the APS ball bearing range of Turbo's

Ive just got my hands on an APS SR30, and cant wait to have this thing put on, i went in the car that it came off and it was awesome, and was barely touching the capabilities of the turbo in terms of torque.

apparently its not so much of a power turbo (it wil put out a max of about 360bhp) but it is capable of producing about 450lbft with the right bits.....however that amount of torque will rip a standard gearbox apart.

im not sure how it would work with the bits you are using. Im still new to this game myself.

the best part of it is though is it spool up time is very similar to a TD04, so there isnt much lag, yet massive grunt.
